The mission of the Students of Spirit Clubs is to reach every student in the Metropolitan Des Moines area for Christ and help direct them to a local church. As a follower of Christ and a member of your SOS Club, this should be your goal, as well. Jesus commands us to “go and make disciples.” In order to do this, our SOS Clubs reach out to their campus with the Love of Christ through sharing, outreach and service:
S – SHARING (Philemon 1:6)
• We are called to be active in sharing our faith. This will not only help us to reach those who are not walking with the Lord, but it will also give us a better understanding of who we are and what we have in Christ.
• A key facet of each SOS Club is providing an open and loving environment for students to come together for prayer and encouragement. It should also provide a non-threatening atmosphere for the unchurched to come and experience true love and acceptance without fear of judgment.
O – OUTREACH (Luke 4:18-19)
• Wherever we are, we’re presented with opportunities to share our faith with others. Sometimes through such simple things as explaining how our faith gives us the confidence to go through everyday life and other times through acts of kindness that express God’s love in a tangible way.
• Daily and weekly outreach is imperative to accomplish the mission of reaching your campus for Christ.
S – SERVICE (1 Peter 4:10)
• As we actively share our faith in service to others, God’s grace is displayed to both the Christian and non-Christian alike. Your SOS Club provides an outlet for that grace.
• Each SOS Club is encouraged to find service projects throughout the year which serve your students, teachers and school.
Outside of these key points, each SOS Club will have its own personality, just as each school has its own needs, directions, etc. That’s the beauty of SOS – it fulfills the needs of the students, teachers and school to whom it ministers perfectly. |
