• Invite a special speaker to come to your SOS Club and speak on a topic that will nterest your fellow classmates and have them share the gospel (or their testimony) during their talk (this could be a local youth pastor, Christian business leader, senior pastor, teacher, politician, athlete, etc. Don't limit yourselves on this. You never know who might be willing to come in and share!). Topics could include: relationships; getting along with parents; 10 things you don't want to do during Homecoming; how to tame stress; how to get better grades and have more fun; winning over worry; etc. • Take donuts and bagels out to the cafeteria, give them to other students and ask if you can ask some questions and engage them in a conversation about faith. This can be done through normal conversation, using a tract or other resources. • Because loving and serving people is following the example that Jesus set for outreach, plan how you are going to serve your fellow students and faculty in the coming weeks. • Prepare for a larger outreach event that could take place on your campus or be tied to a community event such as a Spirit Midwest Ministries concert or event. Some options are Valentines Day event (dinner, etc.), Hawaiian Luau in mid-winter, end of year bash, etc. • Utilize your own creativity that can involve you sharing your life and love of Christ with others. • Use holidays as a "bridge" to sharing Christ individually. For example, at Christmas time take a survey on "Christmas traditions of our students," asking them questions about if and how they celebrate Christmas. Leads to a question like, "What does Christmas mean to you?" and "May I share what Christmas means to me?" • Take hot chocolate/coffee (good coffee) to students waiting outside on cold morning and use it as opportunity to strike up conversations. May not share Christ the first time, but doors will open as you earn the right to be heard. Many Christian business owners would gladly fund this if you share your idea with them. • Have SOS Club members attend basketball, football, volleyball, etc. games, throughout their seasons and shoot video (be sure to get close-up video of every player making a great play!). Then sponsor a banquet at the end of the season and invite players, parents, coaches, cheerleaders, etc. to a pizza banquet where you show highlights of video taken. Can have former athlete from your school as guest speaker and share his/her testimony as part of his/her speech. To pull this off you will need someone who is good at video editing and several digital video cameras. Raise the funds so that you can offer this for free. (Note, this could also qualify as a larger outreach event if done big enough) • Leadership Breakfast for students in the Honor Society or student government (invite Christian speaker) |
